Helper

Part-time · Remote (Discord and lobby)

Helpers keep the SwiftServers lobby and Discord friendly, and help players who are stuck. It's the first staff rank, for people who already spend their time in our community.

This is an unpaid volunteer role. You help in your free time, a few hours a week.

What you'll do

  • Answer questions in our Discord and in the lobby at play.swiftservers.org.
  • Keep chat friendly. Helpers can mute players in the lobby when needed.
  • Send people to the right place: the docs, a ticket or the right page in the panel.
  • Report rule-breaking players and servers to the moderators, with evidence.
  • Help out with simple tickets when the Support team is busy.

What Helpers don't do

  • Bans, server suspensions and appeals are handled by moderators.
  • Refunds, credits and account changes are handled by admins.

Requirements

  • You're 16 or older.
  • At least 3 days (72 hours) of total time on SwiftServers, and active in our Discord or lobby for at least a month.
  • You know how SwiftServers works: creating a server, the lobby and the basics of plugins.
  • Good written English. Small mistakes are fine, but you need to be clear.
  • You stay calm when people are rude, and you can take feedback.
  • No serious punishments recently.

Nice to have (optional)

  • Staff experience on another server or Discord.
  • Another language besides English.

How it works

  1. Apply here. It takes about 30 minutes.
  2. Staff review. At least two staff members read every application.
  3. Text interview on Discord. We open a private channel on our Discord with you and the staff reviewing your application, and ask a few follow-up questions there. There is no voice chat. You don't need to be online at the same time as us, just reply within a couple of days.
  4. Trial period. 2 to 4 weeks with feedback from the team.
  5. Welcome to the team.

You can't apply for Moderator. Helpers who are active, solve problems and stay professional can be promoted to Jr Mod and then Moderator.

Good to know

  • We contact you on Discord, not by email. Stay in our Discord server and allow DMs from server members.
  • Questions with a red * are required. Your phone number, CV and anything marked "optional" can stay empty. For your name, your first name and the first letter of your last name are enough.
  • Write your answers yourself. Answers that are copied or written by AI are declined.
  • Only the staff reviewing applications see your answers. Open a ticket if you want your application deleted.
